FEP-0 Establishing Flosstools.org Enhancement Proposals (FEP)

This is a proposal to organize discussions about enhancements for Flosstools.org, reflect their current status and, in particular, to archive their outcomes, via a lightweight process based on Debian Enhancement Proposals (DEPs).

Principles

  • As a starting point, the FEP process is identical to Debian Enhancement Proposals, with these changes:
  • "DEP" is relpaced by "FEP" everywhere applicable

  • The "Format and content" paragraph, is replaced by:

    A FEP is basically a markdown file, that starts with a code-quoted paragraph of the following RFC822-style headers:

    Title: the full title of the document FEP: the number for this FEP State: the current state of this revision Date: the date of this revision Drivers: a list of drivers (Gitlab handles) URL: during DRAFT state, a link to the canonical place of the draft (typically https://docs.flosstools.org/Proposals/FEP-xx) Source: one or more URLs to browse the sources used to produce the displayed version of the FEP (typically https://gitlab.com/flosstools.org/docs/-/wikis/Proposals/FEP-xx) * FEP-* pages are: * edited in the wiki, under the "Proposals" path * they are not to be deleted or moved * numbers are never reused
